The Info-CORE Bioinformatics support unit was established in 2013 to address the growing needs of bioinformatics analysis, in particular next generation sequencing.
Info-CORE focuses on initial analysis of data generated by deep sequencing technologies, as well as on advanced analysis of data derived from high throughput platforms such as NGS, Nano-String, Microarrays, Proteomics, etc. In addition to bioinformatics analysis services, Info-CORE supports other research activities such as consultation in designing sequencing experiments, writing papers and research proposals, and students guiding.
The infrastructure we established involves a cluster of 66 nodes with a total of 1208 cores and 8.3TB of memory and total storage of 1042 TB (1.02 petabyte).
We maintain a genomes database, based on data from Ensembl, for several widely used model organisms, such as human, mouse, rat, chimpanzee, fly, worm, etc. The database includes ready made indices for various aligners, as well as gene annotations in the formal GTF and a more accessible tabular formats.
