zoom on turns zoom on for the current figure and prompts you to define the zoom center with the mouse:
For a single-button mouse, zoom in by pressing the mouse button and zoom out by pressing Shift and clicking at the same time.
For a two- or three-button mouse, zoom in by pressing the left mouse button and zoom out by pressing the right mouse button.
Each time you click, zoom changes the axes limits by a factor of two (in or out). You can also click and drag to zoom into an area. Press the Return key to stop zooming.
zoom off turns zoom off.
zoom out zooms out fully.
zoom toggles zoom mode.
