These demonstrations are meant to be played in "continuous loop" mode. Many quicktime players support continuous loop mode (e.g. xanim for Linux, Windows Media Player etc.), although the default plug-in to most browsers does not.
1. Narrow versus fat. uncompressed or compressed

2. The influence of satellites. uncompressed or compressed The ellipse is always doing the same thing.

3. Effect of satellites persists over static background. uncompressed or compressed The ellipse is always doing the same thing.

4. Effect of satellites persists over a sheet of translating dots. uncompressed or compressed The ellipse is always doing the same thing.

5. Effect of satellites persists at rather large distances. uncompressed or compressed The ellipse is always doing the same thing.

6. Competition between satellites at different distances. Here there are two sets of satellites. The relative distances between the ellipse and the satellites is varied. uncompressed or compressed

7. Effect of satellites persists when they are displaced in depth. uncompressed or compressed

8. Competition between satellites at different depths. Here there are two sets of satellites. The relative 3D distances between the ellipse and the satellites is varied. uncompressed or compressed
