Achievable Rates for Pattern Recognition

In this work, we develop a generic model for pattern recognition problems
from an information theoretic viewpoint. We characterize the conditions
under which reliable recognition is possible, in terms of a given pattern
distribution and sensor model, the number of patterns to be recognized,
and the rates of the codes used to internally represent sensory data and
memorized patterns.
