The EverLab Project

The EverLab project goal is creating a private PlanetLab network on top of the Evergrow Cluster. The Evergrow cluster has IBM blades in 8 European Locations: Israel, Belgium, France, Sweden, Germany, Hungary, UK and Italy. In each site there are 14 blades.

We plan to install a private PlanetLab network on two blades on each site, total of 16 blades. Currently the main drawback of the PlanetLab network is that the machines are highly loaded. In our private network we will have high-end machines (instead of the regular PCs as in the PlanetLab network) with high bandwidth network connections. Thus we will be able to run intensive simulations and network demanding applications. The EverLab is intended for the usage of the Evergrow EU project members.

Our cluster is going to be the first high-end PlanetLab cluster, which is a next generation PlantLab network.

In each site we will appoint a PI (Primary Investigator) to be responsible for opening user accounts (slices) and allocating nodes to them, as same as done today in the PlanetLab network. All users who are familiar with the PlanetLab network will be able to immediatly operate their experiments on the EverLab cluster.
